“I brought pizza,” Oliver announced as he barged through Parker’s front door, carrying two cardboard boxes from the boutique pizzeria down the street that she loved and a six-pack of Allagash White. “Also, Gregory says his water heater is having issues—have you noticed anything?”

Parker shook her head as she watched her brother storm her apartment like he owned the place. Granted, the pizza smelled delicious, and she was actually starving, but leave it to her brother to arrive on only a few hours’ notice running at Mach six. “Hello, Oliver,” she drawled as she rolled off the couch she’d been lounging on while she read and onto her feet. “It’s nice to see you. Please, come on in.”

He set the food onto the workstation island that separated the kitchen from the dining area and turned to grin at her as he slipped his backpack from his shoulders and set it on the floor at the side of the island. “Sup, sis?”

“Oh you know, not much.” She tossed Maeve Dylan’s latest offering onto the coffee table and made her way into the kitchen where she pulled two plates from the cabinet over the sink. “And, no, I haven’t noticed any hot water issues,” she told him as she set the plates on the counter beside the pizza boxes. “But I have my own tankless unit up here, so I wouldn’t have any idea if his was having any problems. Do you think it’s something you could fix?”

“Depends on what the problem is. If it’s something simple, probably yeah, but if it’s an older unit that’s on its way to crashing, he’ll have to call a plumber out to replace it.” He flipped open the lids of the pizza boxes. “Anyway, since you didn’t answer when I called from the pizza place, so I got you the spinach and artichoke one you had last time I was down.”

“Eh, I’ve been kinda craving it lately anyway, so that’s probably what I would have asked you to get me.” She retrieved the bottle opener from the drawer closest to the living room in the island and slipped it into her pocket. “And I didn’t answer your call because I was on the phone with Sheridan and I figured that if whatever you needed was important, you’d text.”

“On the phone with Sheridan, huh?” He smirked. “How is Agent Super-fine? You guys boning yet?”

“Classy, Ollie…” Parker rolled her eyes as she flipped the lids on the pizza boxes and pulled two pieces of her spinach and artichoke pie onto her plate. “No, we’re not boning. We’re barely hugging, if you want the gory details.” She laughed when he stuck his lip out in a pout. “You’re ridiculous. But, since you asked, she’s doing great. We went out to dinner at a little place by her office last week, and she came over for a bit Sunday afternoon to hang out.”

He leaned across the counter to slide half the pepperoni, sausage, and mushrooms concoction he’d ordered onto his plate.
